The mousketon/Karabiner 31 is a classic weapon, made from 1931 to 1956. It is the final evolution of the Schmidt-Rubin rifles that originated in 1888. It fires the same 7.5x55 cartridge as the StGw57, but without the recoil absorbing advantages of the automatic rifle. Recoil off a rest prone could charitably be described as punishing.
