Incarceration symbols

Most folks are aware of the Holocaust. Far fewer truly understand it. The horror of the deaths of mre than 6 million Jews from western and soviet Europe at the hands of the Nazis is well documented thanks to the efforts of their survivors and relative in the arts in the US and other places. However, that is less than 1/2 the story. Only 1/3 of those incarcerated and 1/2 of those killed were Jewish. Here is a chart of the symbols used to identify the reason someone was incarcerated. They are: Red: Political Prisoner. Purple: Reigious Scholar. Blue: Emigrant Black: Antisocial Green: Occupation Criminal. Pink: Homosexual Brown: Gypsy. If you were Jewish a yellow inverted triangle (until mid 1944) or yellow bar above the triangle (after mid 1944) was added to the basic symbol. Nationality (P = Polish, F= French) and other symbols were also used. Very methodical.
