What this plaque fails to mention is that the visit of Queen Elizabeth II in 1954 celebrated the 250th anniversary of the Rock's capture. This is a point of contention with the Spanish, who want Gibraltar back. The Gibraltarans do not want to be part of Spain, so it remains part of the British Commonwealth.
