The Hikari pulls in to Shinigawa 品川 station
The Hikari line runs on the Japanese Tōkaidō/Sanyō Shinkansen "bullet train" lines. It is the fastest train on that line, though it is second fasest among regular bullet trains, bested by the Nozomi. When the Shinkansen opened in 1964, Hikari was the fastest train on the line, travelling from Tokyo Station to Shin-Ōsaka Station with only two stops (Nagoya and Kyōto). Several additional stops ave been added since then.
