A simple memorial, for one so significant. His grave marker is identical in size and material to the hundreds of other crosses here. The diference is that it is set aside from the rest, and is not in a row with others graves. Originally, General Patton was buried with the other men. However, so many people came to view his grave each year that all the fine grass on his and nearby graves was killed by the heavy foot traffic. The problem was solved by moving his grave to the area between the flagpoles and paving in front of it with stone. Note the flowers still placed by well wishers on his grave
