More mill mechanism! |
The center shaft is driven by the windmill blades. There are two main work shafts driven off of the power shaft. They are fixed to their workload at the bottom. The one to the left drives a small drinder in a sealed room used for crushing pigments. The one to the right drives the 3 tonne wheels used to grind the limestone. The shafts are able to be moved laterally at the top to engage and disengage the power shaft. Before you engage either one, you have to stop the windmill by means of a brake. At high windspeeds, the mill makes around 25 horsepower. Here is a movie of this millworks in action!
