The Gamekeeper Liam's house. It was our base of operations. We hiked to it on foot by the end of the day.

Peter & I surprised these two Stagies (young male Red Deer, not matured yet) on the way down a hill. This is 5x zom, so we were quite close (less than 100 yards). The Stagies just looked at us, then browsed some food and walked off.

2 pounds of pressure... applied to the trigger woud be all it would take to end the life of this gorgeous herd stag. He was too young and vital to cull, so I had to let him go. Almost as good as having the trophy on the wall, right? I keep telling myself that over and over as I remember holding the crosshair on this gorgeous 14 pointer...

Over 500 yards away, these beasts flushed away from us when they caught our scent on the fickle winds. If hunting was easy, everybody would do it, right?

No sooner than Dieter had shot when Peter dropped his pack again, grabbed the rifle and he and I set off up the hill to chase more stags. I left nearly everything behind, only taking my binoculars.

Creeping down the hill, we came upon a huge herd with many good stags. I had a great 12 pointer in the crosshairs, when Peter calls out "the one 3 to the right..." I said "I have the good one" He replied "the one 3 to the right" so I took a nice 8-pointer and that was that.

Ghillieing my stag down the hill. A Ghillie is a person who fetches animals and gets them back to the gamekeeper for slaughter.

On my way back I had seen a large herd of stags across the valley. I manouvered to intercept them and was rewarded with this huge stag, who watched me for a while as his herd of 50 or so hinds caught up. They moved out past me. What a thrill to see!
